The editor dialog for external links shows the current href of the selected link.

Also in most cases this is what you want this does not work well for anchor links. If you add an anchor link like "#test" the resulting href will be the complete URL including domain and content key.

Because we already store the original entered value as "key" we are able to show this key instead of the href in the editor. This solves the problems with anchor links.
